Options for Seniors
While some low income seniors may qualify for Medicaid, the vast majority of senior citizens will obtain their main health benefits through Medicare. However, the Medicare program often provides very limited coverage and many recipients may find themselves paying large medical costs not covered by Medicare.
For this reason, it is highly recommended that seniors purchase additional health coverage in the form of Medicare supplement insurance, also called Medigap. Additionally, seniors should consider purchasing long term care insurance to coverage costs associated with nursing home and in-home care.
